Donations can be made to the following funds:

  • Helps fund capital improvements and repairs that are not “normal” day-to-day operational expenditures.

    • Sustaining ($2500)
    • Benefactor ($1000)
    • Sponsor ($500)
    • Patron ($250)

    Contributions to the first three donor categories are recognized on permanent plaques.

  • is used to help members who are unable to meet their financial obligations by underwriting reduced dues and religious school tuition. Many of these families are single parents.

    • Ahuvim – Lovers of Temple Solel ($180)
    • Chaverim – Partners of Temple Solel ($126)
    • Y’didim – Friends of Temple Solel ($72)
  • Supports kids going to Jewish camps.

  • Provides regular and continuing financial support to the Bowie Interfaith Food Pantry, to enable their work in providing food assistance to those in need in the Bowie community.

  • Is used to support the choir and our Director of Music, Dr. Norman Lieberman at the High Holidays, Cabaret Night, purchase of new music and concerts that the choir performs out throughout the Washington DC area. Donations to the Choir & Music Fund can be made in the following categories:

    Friend

    • Bronze ($36)
    • Copper ($18)
  • Provides scholarship assistance for kids to go to a Jewish camp.

  • Provides funds to assist Temple youth to go on a trip to Isreal.

  • The Israel and Hal Schlaffer Religious School Principal’s Fund is an endowment of the Religious School Principal’s salary. The Fund was established in honor of our Religious School principal emeritus, Hal Schlaffer, and his father, Israel. Hal served our Congregation for 13 years until his retirement in June 2013. Each year a portion of the fund is used to pay a part of the salary of the Religious School principal. Your contribution is welcome in any of these donor categories: Platinum $360, Gold $180, Silver $126, Bronze $108, Copper $72, Other

  • Is used to support adult education.

  • Memorialize loved ones for a donation of $360.

  • Provides funds for providing support to members during the loss of loved ones or illness.

  • Purchases prayer books for Shabbat or holiday worship. Gates of Repentance Shabbat prayer book ($30) and High Holiday Prayer Book ($40) may be inscribed in memory of loved ones or to mark life cycle events. Donations to this fund are also used to purchase other prayer books, including the Torah Commentary and the Children’s Services Prayer Book.

  • Provides funds for the Rabbi to assist members and the Jewish community.

  • Donations to the Fund are used to pay for Jewish music concerts, Klezmer Band concerts/dances and Jewish comedians.

  • Supports the maintenance and upkeep of the Temple’s Torahs and provides the source of funding for new Torahs when they are needed.

  • Leafs celebrate mitzvahs and simchas for a donation of $200.

  • Donations for mitzvahs, condolences, and life-cycle celebrations
